Friends of Kurth Kiln 2008 Heritage Festival, Sunday 6 April
It was a mighty storm that swept through Melbourne in early April. But by Saturday 5 everything was cleaned up and on Sunday 6 the weather was beautiful; we could not have picked it better if we had tried.
And the people turned up in great numbers; some estimated the attendance at over 600 for the day. In fact, the Red Cross (thanks for taking over the catering to the public) said they run out of barbeque essentials by about 14:30. Lunch for the Volunteers was provided by the Friends of Kurth Kiln (thanks guys) and the fresh damper by our friend Jeromie.
The bank-robbery went off without a hitch (I'm not sure if that is the right expression here) with the never-ending romance between Molly and Frankie producing more fireworks.
Thanks to the many volunteer groups bringing their displays and adding to the variety; to the craft groups, the riders and the horses, the heritage machinery, the Clydesdales and the Donkeys, the expert tradesmen and the sound technician. A special thanks to Bernice Dowling, Parks Victoria Volunteer Coordinator, for making time to come out, and to Ralph Angelico, our Parks Victoria liaison Officer, who seemed to be lending a hand everywhere. We hope you had some fun too. As a short reflection on the day we have collected a few photos below.
